Ground Level - Disruptive Beats Part 3

Ground Level records has released part 3 of their Disruptive Beats series, this installment introduces us to Black & Blunt, a production partnership based in Perth Australia. Philly Blunt is known for his Ghetto Funk cuts on labels such as Grits & Gravy and Bombastic Jam. Micah Black has had releases out previously on Ho Ju records and Passenger where he’s teamed up with Nick Thayer. These two producers working together has made a funky uplifting sound, squarely aimed at the dancefloor.

The EP starts with Never Get Enough, a low-slung electro-breaks roller, oozing with funk and broken up with vocal stabs. Our remixer of choice on this release is Dustin Hulton, hot on the US breaks scene at the moment, who strips the track down to the bare elements then gets all wobbley bassline on us! Finally Black and Blunt reinterpret Ground Level catalogue classic Style and Flavour by Break the Box feat MC Coppa, marrying Coppa’s vocals with a funky but raw sawtooth bassline and even elements of euphoric dubstep, this needs to be heard!
